Plastic grit is harder than melamine, so it cuts through coatings faster but requires more careful pressure control on soft substrates. Melamine is the safer choice for thin aluminum. Plastic grit is better for thicker coatings and tougher surface contaminants where melamine works too slowly.

Plastic grit strips paint, primer, powder coating, epoxy, and polyurethane coatings from aluminum, fiberglass, wood, and composite substrates. It is more aggressive than melamine on thick multi-layer coatings. Use it when melamine is too slow for the coating thickness you need to remove.

At correct blast pressure (typically 25-40 PSI), plastic grit removes coatings without damaging aluminum. Higher pressure increases the risk of surface peening or light etching. Start at low pressure and increase gradually. If substrate marking appears, reduce pressure or switch to softer melamine media.
