Woven fiberglass cloth tape with silicone adhesive, 5 MIL thickness, 1" width. Temperature rated to 500F (260C) for powder coating, e-coating, thermal spray, and short blasting. Fray-free edges, high tensile strength, and conformable for uneven surfaces.
The 1" width balances coverage speed with handling precision. It covers more area per pass than 1/2" tape while still fitting around medium curves and contours. Most powder coating shops stock 1" as their primary high-temperature masking tape for general purpose use.
Yes. The silicone adhesive resists the water-based solutions and electrical current used in e-coating (electrocoating) processes. The tape masks areas that should not receive the e-coat layer. It withstands the e-coat bake cycle temperatures without degrading or leaving residue.
Glass cloth tape handles higher temperatures (500F vs 350-400F for most polyester tapes) and provides better conformability on irregular surfaces. Polyester tape offers a thinner profile and sharper paint lines on flat surfaces. Choose glass cloth when heat resistance is the priority.
No. The silicone adhesive is formulated for clean removal after exposure to temperatures up to 500F. It does not char, melt, or transfer adhesive residue to the masked surface. This eliminates post-process cleaning steps that add labor time and risk damaging finished coatings.
The Glass Cloth Tape (5 MIL, 1" wide) is priced at $15.28. Ships in stock from Creative Coating Solutions. Woven fiberglass with silicone adhesive, 500F rated, fray-free edges. Also available in 1/2" and 2" widths for different masking needs.
