A box and pan brake uses removable finger segments along the bending edge rather than a solid bar. Fingers can be removed to clear existing flanges when bending adjacent sides of a box or pan shape. A straight hand brake bends the full width at once and cannot clear raised sides, limiting it to open channel and flat-flange work.

The brake bends sheet metal up to 135 degrees. This range covers 90-degree flanges, 120-degree included-angle channels, and acute bends requiring angles beyond vertical. The 135-degree capacity also allows overbending to compensate for springback in spring-tempered materials that return toward flat after the brake is released.

The brake includes a full set of finger segments spanning the 96-inch bending width. Fingers are available in multiple widths to configure any combination that matches your box or pan dimensions. Refer to the finger width chart in the manual to select the correct segment layout for your specific box dimensions before bending.

Capacity is listed in the product specification by material type. Mild steel, aluminum, and stainless ratings differ. Never exceed the rated gauge - overloading the bending beam on a box and pan brake causes permanent bow across the 96-inch width, producing tapered bend angles from end to end on every subsequent part.
