3M Half Mask Respirator 6291 - Medium | Particulate Protection

The 3M 6291 half mask respirator provides NIOSH-approved P100 particulate protection, filtering 99.97% of airborne particles including dust, mist, fumes, and fibers. It protects against non-oil and oil-based aerosols encountered in powder coating, sanding, grinding, and painting operations. The P100 rating is the highest level of particulate filtration available in a half mask configuration.

The medium-size 3M 6291 fits most adult faces. To verify fit, measure from the bridge of your nose to below your chin. A medium fits face lengths of approximately 4.5 to 5.5 inches. Proper fit is critical for seal integrity. Perform a positive and negative pressure user seal check each time you don the respirator. If the medium does not seal properly, try the large size instead.

The 3M 6291 uses the 6000 series facepiece platform with bayonet-style filter connections and comes pre-assembled with 2091 P100 filters. The 52P71 (medium) and 53P71 (large) use the 5000 series platform with a different filter attachment system. Both provide P100 protection, but the 6000 series offers a more comfortable fit, easier filter replacement, and lower breathing resistance for extended wear.

The 3M 6291 as sold with 2091 P100 filters provides particulate protection only. To add organic vapor protection, you would need to upgrade to 6000-series combination cartridges such as the 3M 60921 (OV/P100) or 60926 (multi-gas/P100). The 6000-series facepiece accepts all 6000-series bayonet-mount cartridges for versatile protection options.

The 3M 6291 facepiece itself lasts for years with proper care and storage. Replace it when the silicone becomes cracked, hardened, or no longer provides a reliable seal. The P100 filters should be replaced every 40 hours of use, every 30 days after opening, or when breathing resistance increases noticeably. Always store the respirator in a clean, sealed bag between uses.
