A slip roll forms flat sheet metal into cylinders, partial cylinders, cones, and curved panels by feeding the sheet between three hardened rolls. The top roll adjusts to control the radius of the curve. Used for forming round ductwork, tank shells, decorative cylindrical components, and curved architectural panels.

The 24-inch roll width is the maximum sheet width the machine can form in a single pass. Sheets narrower than 24 inches can be formed anywhere along the roll length. For sheets wider than 24 inches, the material must be repositioned and rolled in overlapping sections to complete the curve.

The machine is rated for mild steel up to a specified gauge listed in the product data sheet. Aluminum of the same or lighter gauge forms with less effort. Working within the rated gauge capacity ensures uniform roll contact and prevents roll deflection that produces uneven curves. Check the spec sheet before ordering.

To form a cone, offset the rolls so one end has a tighter radius than the other. Feed the blank at an angle that matches the desired taper. This requires practice and multiple test passes to develop the cone shape. Cone forming is an advanced technique - start with cylinders to learn machine feel first.

Cylinder forming is straightforward for beginners: feed the sheet between the rolls, crank through, then adjust the top roll for tighter or wider radius. Cone and complex curve forming requires more practice. The manual operation gives direct tactile feedback, helping new operators develop a feel for roll pressure and feed speed quickly.
