A shrinker compresses the metal flange to create concave curves, while the stretcher expands the flange to create convex curves. Swapping the jaw inserts switches between modes. Used for forming compound curved panels, wheel arch flares, custom body patch panels, and shaped trim pieces without welding seams.

The 1-1/2″ Baileigh shrinker stretcher works with mild steel up to 16-gauge and aluminum up to 14-gauge. Thinner sheet stock forms with less effort. It is not designed for stainless steel at full gauge - reduce stock thickness or use powered equipment for stainless work.

Yes. This Baileigh model includes the floor stand in the package. The stand positions the throat at a comfortable working height and provides stability during forming. No bench mounting required - set it on the stand, bolt it down, and start forming panels immediately after delivery.

Complex curves require multiple passes with small incremental movements per pass rather than one aggressive pass. Work along the flange in overlapping steps, gradually developing the curve. This prevents over-forming and gives you control over the final panel shape without cracking or tearing the metal.
